Trampoline Safety Certifications: What Do ASTM, CPC, and Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) Mean?

Trampoline Safety Certifications: What Do ASTM, CPC, and Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) Mean?

When you browse trampolines on Walmart or Amazon, youve probably seen a bunch of acronyms in product descriptions ASTM, CPC, Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) . They all sound like standard stuff, but each one means something different. Some are legally required, others are voluntary. Understanding the difference helps you know whether a trampoline is truly safe and worth your money.

ASTM: The core technical standard for trampoline safety in the US. ASTM stands for the American Society for Testing and Materials. Its trampoline safety standard (number F381) is the most widely used technical specification for home trampolines in the US market. This standard covers dozens of specific requirements, including structural strength, spring protection, enclosure net height, jumping mat durability, and frame stability. In simple terms, a trampoline that passes ASTM F381 testing has already eliminated most known safety risks through its design. Its important to note that the ASTM standard itself is voluntary, but the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) strongly recommends that all home trampolines meet ASTM standards. Most major retailers (including Walmart and Amazon) also require trampoline sellers to provide ASTM compliance documentation. All MERSCO trampolines are tested to meet ASTM F381.

CPC: A legally required birth certificatefor childrens products in the US. CPC stands for Childrens Product Certificate. Under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), any product intended for children 12 and under including toys, furniture, and trampolines must have a CPC certificate. This is not something a brand can write on their own. It must be based on a test report from a CPSC-accepted third-party laboratory. The CPC certificate lists product information, applicable safety standards (such as ASTM F381), lab information, and more. Without a CPC certificate, a trampoline cannot legally be sold in the US market. So when you see CPC certifiedclearly stated, it means the product has gone through the full legal compliance process. All MERSCO products hold valid CPC certificates.

Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF / Green Label): An environmental bonus, not a safety certification. Many parents have seen the green leaf icon labeled "Climate Pledge Friendly" on Amazon this is the Amazon Green Label, officially abbreviated as CPF. This label is not related to safety at all. It means the product has received at least one sustainability certification (such as reduced carbon emissions, recycled materials, more eco-friendly packaging, etc.). Amazon launched the CPF program in 2020 and now recognizes more than 50 third-party sustainability certifications; products that earn any of these certifications can qualify for the CPF Green Label. Some MERSCO products have earned the Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly badge because we insist on manufacturing in our own ISO9001 certified green factory and use more environmentally friendly packaging materials. For families who care about environmental impact, this is a nice extra but it does not replace safety-related certifications like ASTM or CPC.

To summarize: When shopping for a trampoline, prioritize products that clearly state ASTM F381 compliance and a CPC certificate those are the safety baseline. CPSC compliance is a basic legal requirement. The Amazon Green Label (CPF) is an environmental bonus nice to have but not required. MERSCO trampolines meet ASTM, CPC, and CPSC requirements all at once, and some models also carry the Amazon Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) certification, giving you peace of mind while your child enjoys every bounce.
